The Colquitt Lions Club met Wednesday, March 7, at Moby Dick Restaurant at their regular luncheon meeting. After a delicious meal, Lion President Terry Taylor welcomed the guests to an overflow crowd of members and their guests, and asked Lion Rick Little to provide the invocation.

After the members recited the Flag for the Pledge of Allegiance. Lion Joe Grimsley, program chairman, introduced Billy Roland, who introduced the featured speaker, Rhonda Gordon, executive director of Golden Triangle RC&D.

The Colquitt Lions club members and their guests learned some of the many fine projects of the Golden Triangle RC&D as Ms. Gordon spoke to the organization assisted by Andrew Jansky, Watershed Program assistant, with a slide presentation.

During the presentation, Ms. Gordon told that Golden Triangle serves a 13 county area of Southwest Georgia, including Miller County, and is based in Blakley. Gordon shared about the work of the non-profit group with a broad diversity of pro- grams in the areas of Water Management, Community Development, Land Conservation and Management. Gordon discussed some of the ways that area counties, including Miller, benefit from their membership in the RC&D. This includes access to a community grant program, rural household water well loan assistance, watershed management, educational workshops for the agricultural and natural resource management communities, conservation planning, and more. A question and answer session followed.

Their office can be reached at 229-723-3841 or through their website, www.goldentrianglercd.org.

Thanks to Billy Roland of the Parks and Rec Board (and board chairman for Golden Triangle) for helping arrange the presentation, and invited them back at anytime.
