On January 10, Ramona’s daughter, Bonnie Jean Houston, a sixth grader, won first place in Southwest Georgia Academy’s annual Scrips National Middle School Spelling Bee competition.

Bonnie Jean is shown in the photo above with Ethan Ragan, an eighth grader, the runner-up.

Houston and Ragan will compete in the second round of the spelling bee on Thursday, February 8, 2018, at the Deerfield Windsor Media Center in Albany.

“The apple doesn’t fall too far from the tree.”

Bonnie Jean Houston is the daughter of Steve and Ramona Houston of Colquitt.
