Letter To Editor

Dear Editor,

This is a letter to anyone who lives alone.

About 5:30 a.m. on November 27, 2017, I was suddenly the woman on the floor crying out, “help, I’ve fallen and I can’t get up.” I am so thankful that I can add, after realizing what had happened, I held up my left arm and pressed the alert button on my “Medical Guardian” and immediately calls went out to my children and then to 911 who responded immediately.

Within a short time the police and the emergency medical service was at my door.

I called out the code to them and they unlocked the door. It was determined that in all probability, I had fractured my left hip.

We went to Dothan to Flowers for surgery. Several days after surgery, I chose to come back home to Miller County Hospital for therapy.

In my opinion, they are “top of the line,” and the care that I have received here, I want to describe as the “kindest care.”

There are a number of companies that sell these alert devices, mine is “Medical Guardian.” But please if you live alone, get yourself an alert. My accident happened because I was trying to kill a bug!

Sincerely,
Dot Wainright
