On Sunday, January 7, the community was invited to attend an Open House at Miller County Hospital. It was held to unveil many of the newly completed projects and ongoing transformation at the hospital. A large number of local citizens and residents from surrounding areas attended.

The celebration began in the doctors’ building across the street from the hospital. Miller County Hospital and Miller Nursing Home CEO Robin Rau opened the festivities there by showing a master plan of what has been completed recently and what will be completed in the very near future. The impressive presentation by CEO Rau was most informative as she highlighted the recent improvements, which include renovation of the ER and enlargement of the hospital pharmacy.

The CEO told of how the hospital and nursing home had worked with learning institutions all over the state and nation in training employees for the hospital and nursing home. Since Ms. Rau has been CEO, the employment at the hospital and nursing home has increased from 150 to over 500 employees.

The newest addition to the local health care facility will provide 24 additional beds, and 50 additional jobs. The second wing to begin construction late spring will provide an additional 26 beds and another 50 jobs.

The crowd attending the Open House was divided into small groups to go on a walking tour through the hospital’s newly renovated emergency room and pharmacy, which are state of the art. The event ran from 1:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m.
