Crash injures four at Highways 91 and Mayhaw intersection

Two vehicles crashed at SR 91 and GA 273. One overturned. Two vehicles crashed at SR 91 and GA 273. One overturned. A two vehicle crash with four injuries and one overturned vehicle was called in Wednesday morning at 7:42 a.m., September 14.

First responder units from Colquitt and Miller County were sent to the crash scene to aid in the removal of the injured and clean up debris covering both lanes of SR 91 and some lanes of SR 273.

The collision occurred when Stephanie Davis Phillips, 34, of 113 McLendon Rd., Colquitt, was driving a 2014 GMC Acadia SLT-2-F Sport utility vehicle (Vehicle #1). She stopped at the intersection of GA-273 at GA-91 in Miller County.

Krystal Shauntese Stowall, 22, of 361 N. Second St. Colquitt, was traveling south on SR 91 in a 2010 Hyundai Veracruz (Vehicle two) when the GMC utility vehicle pulled into the path of the Hyundai.

Vehicle #1 stopped at the intersection of the crash site, but failed to yield the right-of-way to vehicle #2. After the impact, Vehicle #2 overturned onto its top in the north bound lane of GA-91. Vehicle # 2 came to a final rest in the northbound lane of GA-91 facing southeast. After impact Vehicle #1 rolled backwards coming to a final rest halfway in the southbound lane of GA- 91 facing east.

There were two passengers in Vehicle #1, Laney Phillips, 2, and Benjamin Phillips, 7, both of Colquitt. Both drivers received non-fatal injuries as well as both passengers. All received injuries and were transported by Miller County Ambulances to Miller County Hospital for treatment.

The vehicles were removed by Hall Wrecker Service due to disabling damage to both.

Georgia State Patrol Trooper TFC Robert E. Snider of Troop 14, Colquitt, was the reporting officer in the crash. Driver of vehicle 1 was cited for failure to yield after stopping at a stop sign.

Driver in vehicle 2 was cited for use of safety belts in passenger vehicle, and warning no proof of insurance.

Timothy Brent Whitaker, 44, of 85 Wallace Newberry Road, Colquitt, was listed as a witness to the crash.
