Parties honor couple

Joy Miranda Jones and Jacob Harold Hayman, who will exchange their vows on Saturday, November 2, 2013, have been honored with several prewedding events.

The festivities began on March 23 when friends of the bride, Jalin Kelley and Kari Atkinson, hosted an Engagement Party for the couple at Merry Acres in Albany. Friends and relatives were on hand to celebrate with the guests of honor.

A Miscellaneous Bridal Shower was held Saturday, September 28, with the Colquitt Free Will Baptist Church Fellowship Hall, which was beautifully decorated in a farm theme with cotton and peanut accents. Starting at 10:30, those in attendance enjoyed a delicious array of finger foods while visiting with the bride and looking over the many wedding gifts the couple received. The next event was a Gift Card Shower and Cookout for the couple. On October 5, friends and family members gathered around the pool area at the home of Vince and Karen Widner for a time of fun, fellowship, and food. The raw oysters and boiled shrimp, along with many other delicious dishes, were savored by all. Other couples hosting this party for the couple’s high school friends were Ty and Donna Godfrey, Ronnie and Monica Posey, Brent and Beth Whitaker, Oliver and Kim Widner.

Joy Jinks honored the bride with a very special Recipe Shower on Thursday night, October 10. Those invited were instructed to bring a recipe and a kitchen utensil needed to make the favorite dish. As they presented their recipes to the bride, they also shared stories relating to them, much to the delight of those in attendance. Laughter filled the Tarrer Inn parlor, the setting for the shower, and everyone enjoyed the delicious refreshments and punch.

A Bridal Luncheon for Joy Jones and her attendants began at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 19, in the Colquitt Free Will Baptist Church Fellowship Hall. Fall and farm motifs were carried out in the place settings and decorations throughout the hall. The hostesses, Debra Calhoun, Jan Calhoun, Kayla Calhoun, Dottie Chandler, Jo Davis, Wanda Griffin, Joanne Holland, Jo Mock, Amanda Rentz, Tammy Richardson, and Betty Jo Toole, served delicious salad plates to those in attendance.

To get the bride ready for the holidays, Joanna Everson, Kaley Givens, and Jean Small gave her a Christmas Shower on Sunday afternoon, October 20, starting at 3:00 p.m. at the home of Howard and Jean Small. In addition to pieces of her Christmas dishes, the honoree received keepsake ornaments and other Christmas d├ęcor items. The hostesses served all of Joy’s favorite foods from her and Kaley’s high school days.

The pre-nuptial celebrations will conclude on Friday, November 1, with the Rehearsal Dinner at Rocky Bend Flint River Retreat in Newton. Hosts for this occasion will be the parents of the groom, Marty and Anita Tabb and Ted and Laura Hayman.
