Incident Activity

Reports Driving with suspended tag, no insurance

On Tuesday, February 4, 2013, Lewis Williams, driving a 1986 Ford LGT, was attempting to back out of a parking space at Red’s Liquor Store. Shea Elizabeth Moore, driving a 2008 Dodge Nitro, was parked across the street at the Colquitt Animal Hospital. As Mr. Williams was backing, it stalled, but continued to roll back crossing North Second St. and striking Ms. Moore’s front bumper with his back bumper. Mr. Williams pulled forward, out of the street, and backed into Red’s Liquor Store parking lot.

After having license and tag run by dispatch, Sgt. Lonnie Wade was advised that the vehicle had suspended registration and no valid insurance. After Mr. Williams was checked by EMT’s, complaining of a hurt leg, he was placed under arrest, being charged with suspended tag and no insurance. His vehicle was towed by Hall’s Wrecker Service.


On Tuesday, February 5, 2013, while on patrol on East Crawford Street, a subject stopped and told that a green Ford Pickup backed up and struck a small truck.

Officer Scott Lawson advised Mr. Benton to follow him back to the scene of the accident. Mr. Joseph C. Dove was the owner of a 1988 GMC truck. Mr. Dove’s pickup had a small dent in the front fender. Mr. Benton lives on Ga. Hwy. 253, Colquitt. Mr. Benton owned the 2003 Ford Pickup Truck. There was no damage to his vehicle. Mr. Benton was issued a citation for leaving the scene of an accident without notifying the vehicle owner of the accident.


On Saturday, February 9, 2013, Annie D. Roberts, of Colquitt, driving a 2007 Toyota Corolla, was attempting to back from the parking space at the residence of N. Fourth St. Tyrone Isaiah Johnson of Colquitt, driving a 1999 Mercury Grand Marquise, was parked and unattended on the street. Ms. Roberts struck Mr. Johnson’s vehicle while attempting to back up. Ms. Roberts’ rear driver side bumper struck Mr. Johnson’s passenger side middle panel of the front and rear door causing slight damages to Ms. Roberts’ vehicle and moderate damage to Mr. Johnson’s vehicle. No citations were issued, and no injuries were reported at the time of the accident.


On Friday, February 8, 2013, Marie Stuart Tabb of Colquitt, driving a 2000 Ford Crowen Victoria, and Mr. Stevie Ray Donley of Leary, driving a 2006 Ford Ranger, were both stopped at the stop sign on Perry St. at the intersection of Hwy. 45 North. Ms. Tabb stated that her foot slipped off the brake, and she struck Mr. Donley’s vehicle on the back bumper. Ms. Tabb’s vehicle sustained damage to the driver’s side front headlight and fender. Ms. Tabb was found at fault due to her foot slipping off of the brake and striking Mr. Donley’s vehicle. No injuries were reported.

Damage to Property

On Thursday, February 7, 2013, the complainant/ victim, Monica George, came to Colquitt Police Department to file a report in damage to property. Ms. George stated that her boyfriend, Clinton Grant, and his brother, Quinton Grant, got into an altercation on MLK Jr. Drive.

Ms. George stated that they were fighting in their mother’s yard where she was parked. Ms. George also stated that beer bottles were thrown, and a dent was put in the driver’s side rear panel of her vehicle. Both Clinton and Quinton Grant agreed to pay their half of the money for the repair of the vehicle.

Burglary-No Forced


On Thursday, February 7, 2013, Officer Chris Medina was dispatched to Washington St. in reference to a burglary. When Officer Medina arrived on scene, Ms. Ultricia Thompson advised that someone had gained entry into her residence and took a black Toshiba Laptop. Ms. Thompson advised that the laptop was approximately a 15 inch screen.

No Insurance

On Wednesday, February 6, 2013, Officer Chris Medina was travelling north on Phillipsburg Road behind a 2002 Ford Crown Victoria blue in color. The officer observed the vehicle crossed over the center lines a couple of times.

The driver, Cornelius Butler, gave Officer Medina his license and insurance. After Miller-Baker E911 ran Mr. Butler’s information on his vehicle, it came back with no valid insuarnce on his car. Mr. Butler was then placed under arrest and taken to the Miller County Jail. Mr. Butler’s vehicle was towed by Watson’s Towing.

No insurance

On Friday, February 8, 2013, Sgt. Lonnie Wade observed a Mercury Grand Marquis travelling south on North MLK. Jr., St. Deidra Thornton Close, the driver, was booked in and released on the charge of no insurance.
