Election results will be on Liberal website Tuesday night

by Terry Toole

Since this week’s Liberal will be on the newsstands well before the General Election polls close, the staff of the Miller County Liberal will make every effort to publish on our website <millercountyliberal.com> the unofficial election results of the contested races. You do not have to be a subscriber to the Miller County Liberal website to obtain the election results.

Monday evening just prior to closing time, the Miller County Board of Registrars office reported that of the 3886 total active voters, 1222 (31%) have voted early on the machines at that office, and 175 absentee ballots have been returned. That is a total of 1397 votes that voted early or by absentee ballots, or 36% of the total active voters. There is a possibility of 20 other absentee votes that could come in the mail Tuesday that were mailed out.

This is the largest combination of early machine voters and absentee voters that has occurred in a General Election.

The poll officers are expecting a large turnout of electors (voters) to be at the polling place on Tuesday, November 6. The polls were opened at 7:00 a.m. and officially closed at 7:00 p.m.. All voters at the polling place and in line at 7:00 p.m. were allowed to vote.

Don’t forget your voting information required to enable you to vote.

The voting strips will be gathered at the polling place, and will be taken to the courtroom at the Miller County Courthouse for all the votes on the machines and absentee ballots to be consolidated.

The totals will be announced by the poll holders when the results are obtained.
