by MCL staff writer

Friday night the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety held its first regional meeting of 2012. It was sponsored by Georgia State Patrol Post #14 Colquitt and was held at the Tarrer Inn in Colquitt.

With 84 officers in attendance, they came from 24 different law enforcement departments from around Southwest Georgia. A meal was provided from Drug Forfeiture Monies.

TFC Earl Prince, a certified POST instructor, taught a class on Due Regard. After the meeting, the officers split up into teams and worked in all four counties patrolled by Colquitt Georgia State Patrol Post 14 (Miller, Seminole, Early, and Decatur).

Several traffic violations were reported including three arrests for DUI and two drug arrests.

The Southwest Georgia Traffic Enforcement Network meets somewhere in Southwest Georgia every month and conducts a meeting with a training class, and then holds road checks to reduce fatal crashes.
