by MCL staff

Sgt. Lonnie Wad is proud to be driving the newest Colquitt Police car. Sgt. Lonnie Wad is proud to be driving the newest Colquitt Police car. Sgt. Lonnie Wade was grinning from ear to ear when we asked him about the new police car he was driving last week.

Sgt. Wade explained that a new patrol car is purchased with sales tax funds only when the oldest unit has been mandated by the state to be retired from service because of high mileage, the unit has been wrecked beyond repair or it costs more than it is worth to repair it. In this case, the unit he was driving had recently blown an engine, and it also had high mileage. The cost to repair the engine was more than the unit would be worth considering the age and mileage, as well as the safety of the patrol car

There is no perfect police car, but the 2008 Dodge Charger Police Interceptor is as good as it gets right now. In fact, it's the quickest and fastest police sedan ever sold to law enforcement agencies through normal government bidding processes.

The City of Colquitt approved the purchase of the new Police Interceptor 2008 Dodge Charger to be paid with SPLOST funds for the Colquitt Police Department.
