Accident causes one injury

Ford Explorer is heavily damaged by concrete truck. Ford Explorer is heavily damaged by concrete truck. A two vehicle acccident occurred Monday afternoon around 1:15 p.m. at the intersection of Fourth and Bush St.

The accident occurred when Melissa Perez of Colquitt, driving a 1997 Ford Explorer, was traveling south on Fourth St.

Michael Givens, also of Colquitt was traveling north on Fourth St. in a 2000 Mack DM690X concrete truck owned by Yates Concrete of Colquitt.

Perez's vehicle began to stall out causing her to steer towards and enter into the northbound side of Fourth St.

Givens' front passenger side bumper struck the right front passenger side of Perez's vehicle causing extensive damage. The concrete truck sustained only minor damage.

Perez was transported to the Miller County Emergency Room by the EMTs for injuries.

Both air bags were deployed in the Explorer.

No citations were issued at the time of the report.
